Family and Children’s Council May Challenge

Family and Children’s Council of Black Hawk County has been presented with a challenge from an anonymous friend to raise $5,000 during the month of May. This friend’s promise is to match the amount of money that Family and Children’s Council is able to raise up to $5,000, with the deadline being May 31^st, 2013. The importance of this donation is vital for the funding of programs that FCC provides for the summer. Due to the slower tendency of donations during the summer months this friend’s offer comes at a perfect time.

By having this challenge set for Family and Children’s Council it motivates our organization to work even harder to help the community prevent child abuse and strengthen families. This generous match offer is only available to FCC if funds are raised these next two weeks. Being able to create these funds amplifies the progress that FCC is able to make in the community for betterment of families in Black Hawk County.

Donations can be given in the form of cash, check, or a pledged commitment to Executive Director Shelly Smith. Donations can be dropped off at our office, mailed in, or by visiting our website at www.fccouncil.net and going to the “Donate Today” tab at the top. For mailing purposes our office is located at 500 East 4^th Street Suite 414 in Waterloo.

Family and Children’s Council is a local non-profit agency working to prevent child abuse and strengthen families. Providing hospital screenings of new families, parenting classes, empowering mother’s and father’s, a school based sexual abuse prevention program that teaches children personal protection strategies and providing baby safety equipment to struggling families are all services that are provided free of charge.

Tyson Sack Lunch Fundraiser

Dear Friends of the Cedar Valley:

Tyson Fresh Meats and Tyson Prepared Foods are once again providing sack lunches in order to benefit local non-profit organizations. This season, we are excited to partner with the Salvation Army and the Family and Children’s Council to assist the needs of numerous individuals and families within our community. We are asking local businesses to participate by ordering lunches for delivery on May 16 and May 17, 2013. The lunches will be delivered to your offices. Please use the order form attached to this e-mail and return it via e-mail or fax.

Also, in order to create a larger and more powerful network for a successful fundraising event in the Cedar Valley, please forward this e-mail to anyone you know who may be interested in purchasing a sack lunch to help these wonderful organizations!

ABOUT FAMILY & CHILDREN’S COUNCIL

Family & Children’s Council (FCC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent child abuse and strengthen families. FCC works towards its mission through prevention education programs in the schools, parent education, and support for families and training for professionals and community members.

Consisting of program volunteers, local leaders, Exchange Club members and human service professionals, FCC has proudly served the Black Hawk County community for over 25 years. All programs and services provided by Family & Children’s Council are free to participants.
